1. Scope and Changes
2. Personal Information and How We Use It
Generally it is possible to use the Websites and the Apps without providing us with any personally identifiable information ("PII"), but on some of our Websites and/or Apps, users have the option of providing various types of personal information to make the best use of available services and features. This section describes what we collect and how we use it. Providing the information is always voluntary, however, and you can always choose not to provide the information by choosing not to use the service or feature. By providing the information you agree to our use consistent with this statement.
INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY YOU
City, State or Zip Code: On some of the Websites and/or the Apps, you have the choice of providing your city, stat or zip code. We use your city, state and zip code to find the best search results including promotions and savings. In connection with some of the matching services we provide, we may also use your location information to match you with third parties offering services in your area.
E-mail Address Only: On some of the Websites and/or Apps if you wish to sign up as a registered user, register for either Promotion Alerts or our Buyer's Alert Newsletter, provide product reviews, be matched with participating service providers, we require that you provide us with your email address. We will use this to email you with the Promotion Alert, the Buyer's Alert Newsletter, and other information or service provider match results you may have requested.
Basic Contact Info: On some of the Websites and/or Apps a user may be able to become a registered user. When a user decides to become a registered user, we ask for some basic contact information, such as username, city, state, ZIP Codes, and email address. We use this basic contact information to facilitate the use of certain features of our Websites (e.g., local promotion search and submission of deals and product/merchant reviews) and to send you information about our company, services and products, and to communicate occasional offers from our partners and advertisers.
Complete Contact Info: When a user wishes to be contacted by a merchant such as an auto dealer in their local area, we collect full name, email address, and phone number.
On some of the Websites and/or the Apps a registered user may decide to become a merchant. When registering as a merchant, we collect complete contact information, i.e., full name, address, e-mail address, and phone number, as well as credit card number and expiration date. We use this information to validate the merchant's identity and to bill the merchant for services provided by AisleCat and approved in advance by the merchant. All credit card information is encrypted.
Content or Correspondence Submitted By You: When a user chooses to post content on any of the Websites and/or the Apps where posting is available, for example, in the form of a product or merchant review, or submits personal correspondence to AisleCat, we may collect and maintain that information in a file specific to the user.
INFORMATION ACQUIRED AUTOMATICALLY
We collect certain information on the Websites and the Apps through the user's experience and activities, cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third parties to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that detail their viewing preferences, activities and interactions with AisleCat. Consequently, collected information is tied to the user's personally identifiable information to provide offers and improve the content of the site for the user. This profile is used to tailor a user's visit to the Websites and/or the Apps, and, subject to the Opt-Out Policy stated below, to direct pertinent marketing promotions and communications to them.
Cookies: A cookie is a piece of data tied to information about the user and stored on the user's computer.
We use both session cookies, which terminate when a user closes his browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on the user's computer until manually deleted. Cookies are used to help make your use of our Websites and/or the Apps more enjoyable. AisleCat creates these cookie files on your hard drive through your browser and uses them to save information on your AisleCat username, ZIP Codes and Website or App preferences so you can avoid re-entry of this information each time you visit our Websites and/or Apps. Cookies also help us to deliver content specific to your interests. You may decline our cookies if your web browser software permits, although this may prevent you from accessing certain features on our Websites and Apps.
Log Files: Like most standard website servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, device identifiers (explained below)), internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Web site and Apps, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We use your IP address at times to help identify you as you browse and to gather broad technical and demographic information on who uses our Websites and/or Apps. We do not tie log files to personally identifiable information.
Device Identifiers: When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access our Apps, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by AisleCat.
A device identifier may deliver information to us or to a third party partner about how you browse and use the Apps and may help us or others provide reports or personalized content and ads. Some features of the Apps may not function properly if use or availability of device identifiers is impaired or disabled.
Location Information: We may use your mobile device’s location service to periodically determine your location, including your location relative to and within third party merchant locations. In addition, we may use location information to improve and personalize our Services for you. You should be able to adjust the settings on your iOS mobile device to prevent our collection of Location Information by disabling the location services feature on your device.
Device and Usage Information: We may collect information about your device and usage that may include (i) information specific to your mobile device (e.g., make, model, operating system, advertising identifier and similar information); (ii) information about your use of features, functions, or notifications on the device; and (iii) signal strength relating to WiFi or Bluetooth functionality, and similar technical data.
We may collect location, device and usage information even if you are not logged in to our Apps.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs): We employ and/or our third party advertisers employ a software technology called clear gifs (also known as Web Beacons or Web Bugs). They help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content and which campaigns are effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics, about the size of a period at the end of a sentence, with a unique identifier. Clear gifs are similar in function to cookies and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In addition, AisleCat and its advertisers may use clear gifs in HTML-based emails. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns by showing how many emails recipients have opened. We do not tie web-beacons to personally identifiable information.
